Minister Vernita Murray

Minister Vernita Murray, Associate Minister

Born in 1984 in Washington, DC to her loving parents, Ms. Belinda Murray and Mr. Vernon Miller. Never lacking, God provided her with additional love, encouragement, and support from her godparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Hall. At a very young age, Minister Murray accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior under the late Apostle Betty Peebles at the Jericho City of Praise (formerly Jericho Baptist Church).
Minister Murray’s thirst for God grew even more as she served in the Potomac High School Choir. As a result, Minister Murray cofounded Divine Destiny Chorale – a local gospel group, affectionately known as DDC. At the age of 22, Minister Murray recognized the call on her life, but did not accept the call until the age of 31, when she united with the Southern Friendship Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorate of the Rev. Dr. Welton Fields, Jr. In 2012, while presenting words of encouragement for a friend’s birthday celebration, God again revealed the call on her life in a powerful way. It was at that moment that God confirmed that she was indeed called, anointed, and appointed. Minister Murray responded to the call with a hearty, “YES”; and, the desire for her steps to be ordered by God began to intensify. Minister Murray attended Victory Christian Ministries International under Pastors Tony & Cynthia Brazelton where she served in the Culinary Ministry for several years.
On July 28th, 2019 Minister Murray was licensed by Rev Dr. Welton Fields, Jr. as a minister of the gospel. Minister Murray is currently pursuing a degree in Finance from the University of Maryland – University College. She leads the Southern Friendship Generation to Generation Family Ministry (G2G) formally known as “Uncontaminated”; she serves on the Pastor’s Aide Committee, the Music and Arts Ministry, Culinary, the Transformation Committee, Standing Committee for Articles, Bylaws and Procedures and actively participates in Bible Study and Sunday School. She is passionate about the word of God, communing with God in prayer, and seeking the salvation of the lost. Minister Murray strives daily to live a life that is pleasing to God. Her favorite scripture is 1 Corinthians 2:9, “But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.”
